Hello, hello, hello everybody! Is it difficult for you to understand the difference between if I was and if I were? if your answer is yes, you are not alone and I hope that this lesson helps you.
So as you can see in the picture above, we can use as if in the simple past this is also known as the subjunctive.
So in our first example above we can see “ she acts as if she were the queen”. In this case we use “ were” because she will never be the queen it's just her dream to be the queen.
However, in the case of King Aragorn, he is in fact a king and he becomes a king in The Lord of the Rings. in this case we can say, “ he acts as if he was a king”. Are you confused? Not to worry you will understand much better after watching my video lesson.
