Hello! Hello! Hello and welcome to Peppy Podcast 4. My name is Steve Ford and today we are going to be talking about beaches and the Ocean.
Today we are going to be talking about something which has been the backdrop, the background, my ever-present friend, the Ocean. I want to start off by saying that my sign is Cancer(my zodiac sign) and my ascending sign is Pisces. Wait! Double trouble! Both signs are ruled by water, by the Ocean. So you can see that I’m really an ‘aficionado’ ( as the Americans say) a real sucker for water. What can I say, I can see the Ocean from my window as I make this podcast. So let’s talk about one of the biggest parts of water we know which is the Ocean. There are 5 oceans in total:
Pacific Ocean, which separates Asia and Australia from the Americas
Atlantic Ocean, which separates the Americas from Eurasia and Africa
Indian Ocean, which washes upon southern Asia and separates Africa and Australia
Southern Ocean or Antarctic Ocean, sometimes considered an extension of Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans, which covers the waters that surround Antarctica
Arctic Ocean, sometimes considered a sea of the Atlantic, which covers much of the Arctic and washes upon northern North America and Eurasia
I like to see it as one Ocean and the earth as one planet. So what makes the Ocean such an important part of our lives?
Each year millions of people flock to the beaches to sunbathe, to soak up some rays trying to get a nice suntan or just trying to get together with friends and family. There are so many things to do like going for a stroll down the beach, just lying in the sun, playing volleyball, having a nice cold drink, flirting, running around with the kids etc. This reminds me of Peppy 26, yes! The scene from Copa Cabana in Brazil. Rio de Janeiro! Some of the world’s top beaches include:
Horseshoe Bay – Bermuda
Bora Bora, French Polynesia
Fernando de Noronha, Brazil
Harbor Island, Bahamas
Mykonos Island Beach, Aegean Sea
Palm Beach – Aruba
Tulum Beach – Cancun
Do you have a top 10 beach to add to this list? Please let me know!
All of these beaches and many more are: stunning, breathtaking, invigorating, inspiring, jaw-dropping. Such places give us a chance to put our lives on pause while we try to let the waves of the ocean wash away all of our worries. It’s the ultimate ‘get-away’ where you can leave all of the problems at home.
A special note here that get-away is used as a noun, not just a phrasal verb, to describe holiday packages. You can go to a travel agency here in North America and they will have vacation(US) or holiday(UK) get-away packages. So get-away is an ‘escape’. Back to our podcast!
